Time To Bake More Pies

No place for the weak

As at the time of writing this article, The United States of America led by an ultra far right conversative government is preparing to unleash hell on the Iranian regime. Not long before, the sitting president, leader of the United Socialist Party of Venezula had been picked up from his fortress without a pinch of awareness nor an insight by any of the several thousands of soothsayers across Venezula and its neighbouring nations like Cuba. Everything is happening fast and unshakable, the market forces are no longer invisible, they are the mighty powers of the world, those who guard, dictate, lay bare the rules of global trade and cooperations. Nationalism and prejudice conversatism is on the rise and the information you consume is not yours to choose. Soverignity is almost a dead concept and true democracy is on the descendancy. Alliances are reforming, Germany is rearming for the first time since World War II. Russia isn't stopping in Ukraine, Denmark fears of losing Greenland, China is taking over Africa.

Productivity multiplier

Claude Opus isn't AGI afterall. Taalas is spitting tokens at 10x the speed of the best performing models (approx. 17K tokens/sec), Cerebral is partnering with OpenAI to etch the model compute frameworks and tools directly on chip. Moore's law is broken and technology is advancing incredibly fast by the hour. The winners promise to unlock a world of plenitude where money means nothing and humans will forever after live in an everlasting utopia. They say the singularity is ever nearer. What will be the fate of the human race if purpose is no longer tied to work and outcomes, what will our progeny think of the world we lived and the world we left. Will the abundance promised be shared equally, equitably and freely among the nations of the world.? Who will lead the cutting and sharing of the cake ? These are questions with little to no concrete answers yet. In the world of abundance what will be the fate of the poor consumer thrall with no information to create wealth.

Our fate

Our fate as poor consumers with little abilities to create wealth is self annihilation, in the context of global technological progress, we as Africans have relatively contributed little in the grand sense. I am not a fan of hastily pointing fingers and blaming our colonial oppressors for our misfortune, this is a sick and deadly mindset in my view. Our providence as Africans is to thrive, be prosperous and live harmoniously with nature in a future we decide to create by ourselves. However, what do we see; young graduates complete formal tertiary training and are ready to jump on the next ship to a foreign land, what is our fate, if we continue to accept this culture of conservatism and little agency to drive progress. What is our fate when all we do is to consume the creation of others. We've returned to the era of the "survival of the fittest", and the jungle no longer has mercy on the poor children of Africa who die of Malaria, TB, Cholera and what have you.

Time to Act

This is the time to save the situation befalling us; we are slowly marching ourselves into perpetual servitude and bondage, if we don't realise:

And more and more... Instead of sharing one piece of the pie, this is the time to put in maximum effort to bake more pies, create and build new industries. Invest in the technologies of productivity, understand science and technology is much different from religion and spirituality, and commit to renewing our minds for innovations and inventions. The time is now to bake more pies, lest we fall eternal servants to the owners and inventors of productive machines in this new age.
